Requesting a Repeat Prescription

Pets that have been seen within the last six months at Elham Valley Referrals may be eligible for a repeat prescription.

To allow us to prescribe safely and accurately, please do not leave requests until the last minute.

Please allow at least 48 hours or 4 days on Bank Holidays.

• Prescriptions must be checked by a veterinary surgeon
• Some medications may need to be specially ordered
• We will always try to help sooner where possible

Information We Need from You

When requesting a repeat prescription, please provide:

• Client’s full name
• Patient’s name
• Address
• Contact telephone number
• Date your pet was last seen at EVR
• Medication details:
  • Name
  • Strength
  • Form (tablet, liquid, eye drops)
  • Current dosage instructions

Regular Health Checks

To ensure your pet’s ongoing safety and wellbeing:

• Pets on repeat medication must be re-examined at least every 6 months in line with current RCVS guidelines for patients under our care’
• Some pets may need to be seen more frequently
• This will always be discussed and agreed with the veterinary surgeon

These checks help confirm that the medication remains the most appropriate choice for your pet, and is continuing to be effective.

Collection & Payment

• Our reception team will contact you once your medication or prescription is ready
• Payment is required in full on collection or prior to dispatch

Postal Delivery

If you are unable to collect, we can arrange Special Delivery by post:

• Postage costs apply
• Payment will be taken in advance before sending

Using an External Pharmacy

If you choose to obtain medication elsewhere:

• A £15.25 prescription administration fee applies
• We will ask for your nominated pharmacy and send the prescription directly to them
• In line with current Veterinary Medicines Directorate guidelines, we do not issue paper prescriptions to clients. Instead, these will either be emailed or posted to your nominated pharmacy
